Putnam County is located in the southern part of New York State. As of the 2010 census, the population was 99,710 and the county seat is Carmel. The county was formed in 1812 from Dutchess County and was named for Israel Putnam a hero in the French and Indian War. He was also a general in the Amerian Revolutionary War. Midtown Manhattan is a one hour drive from Putnam County and Grand Central Terminal is about a 1 hour 20 minute train ride in from the county. Putnam county is one of the most affluent counties in America.

Putnam Visitations ScheduleVisitation, Money, Mail, and Calls
Contact with inmates is only permitted in a designated area under the supervision of a Correction Officer.
Visitors must check in 15 minutes prior to the start of visits. Visits start on the half-hour. Visitors must e properly dressed, pass the metal detector, and have a government issued photo identification. Inmates are allowed 2 hours of visiting time per week. No visits on Saturdays, Sundays or Legal Holidays.

Friday 9 – 11:30 am, 12:30 – 4:30 pm
