Saratoga County New York Sheriff Information

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office patrols an area of 844 square miles of which 34 square miles is water. The office protects a population of 230,163 citizens. The office consists of approximately 270 members and is comprised of five divisions. These divisions are Community, Services/ Civil, Corrections, Communications, Criminal Investigation Division, and Police Services. There is also a Marine Patrol, DWI Officer Program Traffic Safety Division, and K-9 program.

The Jail is under the jurisdiction of the Corrections Division of the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office. The facility has a capacity of 255 inmates and employees 80 correctional staff members.

Visitation, Money, Mail, and Calls

Cash, a $20 maximum, will be deposited into an inmate’s commissary account. Money orders, personal checks, and cash over the $20 maximum will not be deposited and will be returned to you.
The facility does not accept incoming messages for inmates. Inmates can make outgoing collect calls only. The only incoming phone calls that are accepted are legal counsel and family emergency phone calls.
Visiting Hours scheduled for visitation are listed by the inmates housing unit and cell assignment. It is the responsibility of the inmate to inform visitors of their assigned unit and time of visitation. Visitors must arrive at the facility 30 minutes before the start of visitation for identification processing.

Saratoga County, New York Information

Saratoga County is in east-central New York State and was founded in 1791. At the 2018 estimated census, the population was 230,163. Saratoga County is one of the fastest growing counties in the northeast United States. The county seat of Saratoga County is Ballston Spa. The County’s name came from the Native Amerian work “sah-rah-ka” or “Sarach-togue” meaning the hill beside the river. The Hudson River borders the county on its east side, and the Mohawk River delineates the southern border. Saratoga County is the gateway to the Adirondack Mountains and State Park. The county is home to the internationally renowned Saratoga Race Course one of the oldest horse racing venues.
