Schenectady County, New York Information
Schenectady County is located in the eastern section of New York. As of the 2010 Census, the population was 154,727, and the county seat is Schenectady. The name comes from a Mohawk language word meaning “on the other side of the Pinelands.” The county was founded in 1809, and the largest city is Schenectady. The county is home to Thomas Edison and Charles Steinmetz.
