Ulster County New York Sheriff Information

The Sheriff’s office patrols an area of 1,161 square miles and protects, as of 2010, 182,493 citizens. The sheriff’s office has served Ulster County since 1683 and been accredited since 1992. The Divisions include the criminal division corrections division, civil division, and the Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team. There are four substations of the Sheriff’s Office.

Ulster County New York Jail Information

The Ulster County Law Enforcement Center opened in 2007, and the facility houses the sheriff’s office, civil and patrol divisions. The facility is a state of the art direct supervision model, and the rated capacity is 426 inmates. There is 153 mandated security staff who monitor the jail. The jail can be expanded to a capacity of 502 by double bunking.

Visitation, Money, Mail, and Calls

Visiting hours are:
Visit #1: 8:30 am. You must be in the lobby to sign in between 7:45 and 8:15 am.
Visit #2: 10:15 am. You must be in the lobby to sign in between 9:30 and 10:00 am.
Visit #3: 1:15 pm. You must be in the lobby to sign in between 12:30 and 1:00 pm.

If you are not in the lobby by those times, you will not be entitled to visit. Bring a photo ID, no packages or deliveries allowed, two visitors allowed per inmate, and each inmate is allowed two 1 hour visits per week.

Ulster County, New York Information

Ulster County is located in the southern section of New York State. As of the 2010 census, the population was 182,493, and the county seat is Kingston. The county is named after the Irish province of Ulster and was founded in 1683. Ulster County is also located in the Hudson Valley, and the Hudson River is on its eastern edge. The Catskill Park and Forest Preserve is within the county where there are more than a quarter million acres of forever-wild woodlands.
