Columbia County, New York Jail Information
The Columbia County jail is maintained and operated by the Sheriff’s Corrections Officers. The facility is located at the Public Safety Facility that was opened in 1989. The facility houses up to 135 inmates. The inmates are awaiting trail or are sentenced for up to one year. The jail is operated by full time and part time Corrections Officers who are sworn Peace Officers. The facility is open 24/7. In a normal year, the facility processes just over 1,100 individuals.

Visitation, Money, Mail and Calls
Inmates on good behavior are entitled to one non-contact visit per day. The visit lasts about 30 minutes. Non-contact visits are offered on Monday, Friday and Saturday for adult male inmates. Non-contact visits are Tuesdays and Thursday for minor male inmates.
No contact visits are Wednesdays and Sundays for female inmates.

No incoming phone calls are allowed. An emergency call must be verified by Corrections staff. The inmate will be advised who to call for more information.

Adding money to an inmate’s commissary account includes depositing money in a kiosk located in the lobby of the Public Safety Building. The kiosk accepts cash or credit cards. You can also give a certified bank check or money order to the officer at the lobby window on Tuesdays from 8:00 to 11:00 am, Friday 6:00 to 9:00 pm and Saturdays from 12:30 – 3:00 pm.

Columbia County, New York Information
Columbia County is located on the south east central portion of New York State. As of the 2010 census the population was 63,096 and the county seat is Hudson. The name comes from the Latin feminine form of Christopher Columbus. The count is located between the Hudson River and the Massachusetts and Connecticut state lines. It is about 125 miles north of New York City.
The county government consist of 18 town supervisors and 5 Hudson City supervisors. It is controlled by a Chairman of the Board
