The Wayne County sheriff’s office patrols an area of 1,383 square miles of which 779 square miles are water. The office protects, as of 2017, 90,670 citizens. “It is essential that all members and employees remember that in the execution of their duties, they act not for themselves, but the good of the public. They shall respect and protect the rights of individuals and perform their service with honesty, zeal, courage, discretion, fidelity, and sound judgment.” Divisions in the sheriff’ office include Road Patrol, Civil, Criminal Investigations, Records and Juvenile Safety Division.

Visitation, Money, Mail, and Calls

Jail must be scheduled by making an appointment with the jail receptionist by calling Monday through Sunday 8:00 am until 4:00 pm. Visits are as follows:
Monday – Friday 9:00 am – 6:00 pm.

All visits are non-contact and conducted through a glass partition. If you want instructions for video visitation, all 315-946-580, each inmate is allowed one or two visits per week that range from 15 minutes to one-hour. Visiting depends on the day of the week, where the inmate is housed, the inmate’s sex, and whether or not the inmate is a felon.

Sending money to an inmate for commissary privileges plus per-night fees can be done via Western Union, cashiers check, money order, or cash at the jail lobby window. Make sure you have the inmate’s full name listed on any money orders or cashier’s checks.

Wayne County is located on the south shore of Lake Ontario in the state of New York. As of the 2010 census, the population was 93,772. The county seat is Lyons. The county was founded in1823 and is named for General Anthony Wayne, an American Revolutionary War hero, and statesman.
