Montgomery County, New York Information

Montgomery County is located in the central portion of New York State. As of the 2010 census the population was 50,219. The county seat is Fonda. The county was named in honor of Richard Montgomery an Amerian Revolutionary War general killed at the Battle of Quebec. The county was historically occupied by the Mohawk people until the county was created in 1772.
