The Sheriff’s Office patrols an area of 596 square miles of which 3.5 square miles is water. The office protects as of 2010, 42,155 citizens. “The members of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office are to serve. The members of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office are to conserve the peace and protect life and property in the County of Wyoming by rights guaranteed in the constitution of the United States of America and the State of New York. The Mission will be accomplished with dedication, integrity, and professionalism.” There are 20 deputies in the patrol division.

Wyoming County New York Jail Information

The Wyoming County jail was finished on January 6th, 1992. In the jail are four shift sergeants and twenty-six full-time correction officer and twelve part-time corrections officers. The jail houses 81 adult inmates, both male and female.

Visitation, Money, Mail, and Calls

Visits can be made to an inmate from Monday to Sunday. Visitors must be present 10 minutes before their scheduled visit. If a visitor is late, they will not be allowed to visit an inmate.

Visiting hours are Monday through Thursday from 1:30 pm -5::00 pm and Sundays from 930 am – 5:00 pm.

Inmates can have up to two adult visitors at one time. Visits are conducted in the visiting room, and all visits contact. If the jail administrator suspects a breach in security, the inmate will lose this visitation privilege.

Funds can be accepted for an inmate by using the Access Corrections Kiosk in the main lobby of the public safety building. You can pay with cash, cedit, and debit cards. Commissary payments can be made online (contact the jail for this information) and money order and certified check can be sent via the US Postal Service.

Wyoming County, New York Information

Wyoming County is in the western portion of New York State. At the 2010 census, the population was 42,155, and the county seat is Warsaw. The name Wyoming comes from a Lenape Indian word meaning broad bottomlands. Wyoming County was formed in 1841. There are more cows in Wyoming County (47,500) than there are people. Wyoming County is one of New York’s most heavily agricultural counties.
