Washington County New York Jail Information
The correctional facility was opened in 2003 and replaced the old jail that was built in late 1800. There are 56 full-time officers and about 20 part-time officers in the unit. “The primary goal of the Washington County Correctional Facility is to provide a safe and secure environment that promotes positive inmate behavior, through fair, impartial, and humane treatment of all individuals incarcerated in the correctional facility.”

Inmates are allowed 2-one hour visits per week. Visitors must sign in at the Jail Lobby 15 minutes prior to the start of the visit. No visits are permitted to enter the visitation room after the start of scheduled visits. Inmates are allowed 2 visitors at a time, and all visitors must show official identification.
Cash can be deposited to an inmate’s account by using the Cobra Banker Cash Machine in the lobby. You will need the inmate’s ID or full name and date of birth to deposit cash. You can use a credit or debit card to deposit money using this same machine. Your driver’s license must have an address that matches the credit or debit card, or the machine will reject your card.
Money orders can be used, but they must be mailed via the US postal service.
You can also use GovPayNet with a major credit card, debit or pre-paid debit card to deposit funds into an inmate’s account. You can pay online or by phone at 1-888-277-2535.

Washington County is located along the eastern border of New York State. As of the 2010 census, the population was 63,216, and the county seat is Fort Edward. The county was named for US President George Washington and organized in 1772. The county has four historic covered bridges, and all are on the National Register of Historic Places.
